These early separate loudspeakers were designed to sit alongside valve radio receivers and were deliberately made as attractive pieces of furniture for the home. Celestion began producing loudspeakers in 1924, and decorative wooden cabinet speakers were an important part of its early production.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe original Celestion branding remains to the rear, including the gilt lettering and oval maker's label. The cabinet itself is a wonderfully decorative survivor and would work particularly well as a display piece in an early radio, industrial or Art Deco interior.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe original loudspeaker unit and internal mechanism are no longer present, so this is being sold as an empty antique speaker cabinet for display or restoration, rather than as a functioning loudspeaker.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eGood antique condition overall with expected scratches, rubbing, marks and small losses to the finish. There is more significant damage to one section of the lower plinth\/foot, with a piece of moulding broken away as shown in the photographs.
