Handsome early 20th century Carl Zeiss Jena monocular laboratory microscope in black enamel and lacquered brass, complete with its original fitted wooden transit case and key. The microscope still functions: coarse and fine focus run smoothly, the mirror adjusts, and the optics give an image. Rotating triple nosepiece with mixed period objectives, and a mechanical stage with slide clips. Classic Carl Zeiss Jena oval cartouche and serial number to the main tube.

The carry case still has its shaped interior, storage holes for objectives/eyepieces and the original lock and working key. The two round lens tins visible in the photos are empty. One of the hinges on the wooden case is broken, so the door flexes more than it should, but it still opens, closes and locks. Age-related wear throughout: scuffs to the black enamel, some spotting to the brass, and honest marks from lab use. A proper display piece for a study, library or curiosity cabinet — and not just a prop, it actually works.
