A striking early automotive accessory by the Boyce MotoMeter Company, dating from around the 1910s–1920s and made for Ford motor cars.
The circular temperature gauge is marked “BOYCE MOTO METER” and has the distinctive Ford winged emblem with “THE UNIVERSAL CAR” to the reverse. It is mounted above an impressive pair of outstretched metal wings, originally intended to sit prominently on the radiator cap of an early motor car.
Now mounted on a turned wooden display base, making it a particularly attractive piece of early motoring memorabilia for display. The plated metal has developed a lovely aged patina with areas of wear and tarnishing consistent with its age.
The temperature gauge has not been tested for operation and is sold as a decorative collectible.
