A beautiful Thai Thepanom statue.
Made using the ancient lost wax technique where the subject is first sculpted from wax, a clay mold is then made around the wax, the wax removed and replace with molten brass.
The Thepanom first came to earth when Buddha reached enlightenment. They became Buddha's protector, then guardian of religious temples and artefacts such as scrolls.
There are a few signs of ware including small holes in the base caused by many years of regular polishing and some of the stones are missing but the statue still looks great.
