A beautiful antique barometer housed in a heavy brass casing, made by the renowned firm D. McGregor & Co, with dual markings for Glasgow and Liverpool. This classic piece dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and features a clearly printed dial reading Stormy, Changeable, and Fine Weather, along with a thermometer in Fahrenheit.
The face bears the text:
“Barometer Falls for Warm, Wet or More Wind – Barometer Rises for Cold, Dry or Less Wind.”
There is a small crack in the glass (see photos), but it does not detract from the display value or overall charm of the piece. Aged to perfection, with patina throughout the brass and base, and a lightly foxed dial full of character.
Measurements:
Diameter: 7¾" (19.5 cm)
An evocative piece of nautical or scientific history – perfect for a mantelpiece, library wall, or maritime-themed interior.
*** US Buyers - Note that there is still no import tariff on goods valued less than $800 ***
