A charming antique Art Nouveau cast metal ashtray or pin dish, dating from around the early 20th century. The piece has a wonderfully decorative relief design with two fish or carp sweeping around the central bowl, with stylised flowers and flowing foliage to the edges.

It appears to be cast brass or bronze, with a rich aged patina and areas of green verdigris in the recessed detail, which really brings out the design. The underside is unpolished and fitted with four small pads or feet. A lovely small decorative piece, ideal for use as a desk tidy, pin dish, ring dish or display ashtray.

There is age-related surface wear, tarnish and patination throughout, with some rubbing to the raised detail, but it displays beautifully.

Measures approximately 12 x 8 x 3 cm, or 4 3/4 x 3 1/8 x 1 1/4 inches.
