An early Eccles "The Protector" miners safety lamp. Dating circa 1900, the lamp is in good condition but requires a wick if it were to be used.
These lamps were designed to not ignite and gas that miners might encounter, an interesting object that looks great on display. They were normally leased to the miners and padlocked shut to prevent them from exposing the flame to light cigarettes.
