An attractive antique hand-knotted wool rug, believed to date to the early-to-mid-20th century, circa 1920–1950, and attributed to Turkey.
The rug features an intricate all-over floral lattice composed of repeating geometric flowers, leafy tendrils and small decorative motifs, surrounded by a series of beautifully detailed floral borders.
Its wonderfully faded palette combines muted terracotta, soft pink, sage green, warm beige and dark chocolate brown, creating a particularly harmonious arrangement of earthy colours.
Hand-knotted in wool, the rug has acquired a beautifully timeworn appearance, with areas of low pile and faded colours contributing to its soft, understated character.
The rug is in well-worn antique condition, with substantial age-related pile wear, fading, fraying to the edges and a small hole near one corner, clearly illustrated in the photographs. Still with lots of life left in it.
Dimensions: 5 ft 5 in x 4 ft 1 in (164 x 125 cm).
Origin: Attributed to Turkey.
Date: Probably circa 1920–1950.
