Approx 5'1" x 3'5" (156 x 105 cm), this vintage tribal wool rug has a classic small-scale village look with a strong central lozenge and all-over herati-style field. The ground is a rich raspberry red scattered with tiny repeating motifs, framed by crisp ivory and blue borders full of stylised leaves and angular vines. It’s a brilliant size for beside a bed, in a hallway or under a coffee table, and the saturated reds and blues sit perfectly with maximalist, boho and old-money interiors.
Hand-knotted wool on a sturdy cotton foundation, likely mid 20th century work from the wider Hamadan / Shiraz weaving region. The pile is medium-low and even with some gentle age-softening to the colours, a little abrash (natural colour variation) and small areas of surface wear in the field. Fringes are slightly frayed and uneven and there is minor rubbing to the selvedges, all shown in the photos and reflected in the price. Recently surface-cleaned and ready to use; as with all vintage rugs, a deeper professional clean is always an option if preferred.
