A striking antique hand-knotted Afghan Baluch rug dating to the early 20th century. Woven in richly aged tones of deep burgundy, chocolate brown, ivory and muted crimson, the rug features a beautifully balanced geometric field with stepped lozenge medallions enclosed by highly decorative tribal borders.
The soft, naturally aged palette and low pile give the rug tremendous character, making it equally suited to traditional, bohemian, wabi-sabi or contemporary interiors. Handwoven entirely from wool, it displays the subtle irregularities and patina only found in genuine antique tribal textiles.
Presented in good antique condition with age-related wear consistent with its age, including a pleasing even low pile and minor wear to the fringes, all adding to its authentic charm. Strong, usable and ready for display.
Measures approximately 4ft 6in x 2ft 9in (136 x 85cm).
