Approx 3'11" x 6'6" (119 x 199 cm), this vintage tribal wool rug is a joyous pictorial piece with rows of small squares, each filled with stylised animals, birds and geometric symbols. The palette runs through cherry red, peach, pink, cream, tangerine and soft yellow, framed by patterned borders that keep everything contained and graphic. It has a real storybook, folk-art feel and works brilliantly in maximalist, cottagecore and playful family interiors – perfect for a sitting room, kids’ room or layered in a studio.

Hand-knotted wool on a sturdy foundation, likely Anatolian or Caucasian village work from the mid–late 20th century. The pile is low to medium and even, with some age-softening to the colours and a few small, scattered areas of surface wear. Fringes are worn and uneven and there are old repair threads and the remains of a backing or tape visible on the reverse at one end; this is not obvious from the front but worth noting. Overall it lies flat and is very usable, with plenty of life left and tons of character.
