Approx 2'9" x 4'11", this vintage Afghan Baluch (Baluchi) tribal rug is hand-knotted in soft wool with a gently time-faded palette of cocoa brown, cream and muted blush. The field is laid out with a panelled lattice of small hooked diamonds, framed by multiple geometric borders that give it a strong graphic rhythm while still feeling calm and neutral. It’s a brilliant size for in front of a sofa, beside a bed or in a hallway, and the soft, earthy colours work beautifully with today’s Scandi boho, cottagecore and wabi-sabi interiors.
Likely mid–late 20th century village weaving, the rug has a low, even pile with age-appropriate wear. There are areas of light abrash (natural colour variation), a few darker marks and small, scattered worn spots in the field, plus fraying and unevenness to the fringes and very minor rubbing to the selvedges – all shown in the photos and reflected in the price.
