A lovely vintage Afghan Baluch hand-knotted wool rug, probably dating from around the 1970s–1980s. The design has a rich red ground with two bold geometric medallions, surrounded by stylised floral and tribal motifs in dark indigo, ochre and cream. The compact size and deep red/blue palette are characteristic of Baluch weaving traditions.
Hand-knotted in wool with a closely woven construction and short fringed ends. A particularly attractive little rug with a strong graphic quality that would work well beside a bed, in a hallway, in front of a fireplace or layered into a larger interior.
