A superb Welsh advertising bottle in classic two-tone salt-glazed stoneware, boldly printed “R. Ratcliffe, Botanical Brewer, Thurston Road, Pontypridd,” with the period warning around the shoulder: “Anyone illegally using or detaining this bottle will be prosecuted.” Tall at 26cm, it has lovely tapering shoulders, a ringed lip and creamy body with rich tan top—great colour contrast and crisp typography.

Likely late Victorian to Edwardian, c.1890–1910, used for botanical beer/ginger beer. Presents beautifully for shelf styling, bar carts, kitchen displays or a Welsh history vignette. Condition is very good for age with light surface marks, tiny firing specks and small glaze rubs at the high points; no structural issues noted.
