The statue has a lovely patina and ware from many years of handling and polishing. Originating in Deccan and made sometime in the 19th century using the ancient lost wax method.
The horse would once have had a detachable rider, likely Khandoba who is a warrior manifestation of Shiva and most often worshipped in Southern India.
