A handsome round convex mirror with beaded inner ring and ebonised reeded slip, the frame finished in warm gilt with bold roundels for that true Regency–Victorian look. The convex plate throws a room-wide reflection with attractive age speckling and reads beautifully on a gallery wall, over a fireplace, or in an old-money hallway.
Honest, timeworn condition. The giltwood and gesso frame shows losses, chips and shrinkage cracks in places, including a visible split to the inner reeded slip at the bottom quadrant and scattered knocks and touch-ins around the rim. The original panelled back has old repairs and a later hanging chain. Displays strongly with evocative patina.
Overall diameter 57 cm. Convex glass, giltwood and gesso with ebonised slip. Mid–19th century.
