A beautiful gold gilded bronze Sekunda oil lamp, decorated with figures of deities and the Naga King on the top. Great patina and good condition for its age.

14cm / 5.5" tall

Sukunda lamps are indigenous to the Newar people of the Kathmandu Valley. They are used for a wide range of religious and social purposes. Sukunda is derived from the terms Su (beautiful or serene) and Kunda (lake). The oil represents a lake, and the light represents the sun.
