A superb vintage Danish glass pendant light designed by Michael Bang for Holmegaard. The Etude range dates to 1978 and is a particularly striking example of late 20th-century Scandinavian lighting, with a bold sculptural profile and beautifully formed mouth-blown glass.
This example is made in exceptionally dark aubergine glass, appearing almost black when unlit, with a contrasting clear glass rim around the broad lower edge. The elongated neck, rounded central section and sweeping flared lower body give it a wonderfully architectural silhouette.
The original internal label reads “HOLMEGAARD - Type: ETUDE - M.B. PENDEL”, identifying the design. A very handsome piece of Danish lighting that works particularly well over a dining table, kitchen island or as a statement pendant in a more minimal interior.
The shade measures approximately 31 cm high × 26 cm diameter (12.2 × 10.2 inches). Supplied with approximately 1 metre / 39 inches of cable.
