A handsome 1930s Art Deco oak mantel clock with a particularly good architectural case, shaped stepped sides and fine beaded detailing around the central clock body. The lower glazed panel is divided with bevelled sections and gives a view of the polished brass pendulum as the clock runs.

The cream dial has stylised Arabic numerals, black hands and twin winding apertures, with a brass bezel and glass cover. The rear reveals a traditional mechanical two-train movement with pendulum and coiled gong.

The clock is in good working order and produces a lovely deep, low-pitched resonant chime. The mechanism winds and runs as it should. There is some expected age-related wear and variation to the oak finish, but overall it presents very well and has a particularly attractive warm patina.

Approximately 39 cm wide × 30 cm high × 10 cm deep (15.4 × 11.8 × 3.9 inches).

I’d date it to approximately the 1930s. Comparable working Art Deco oak mechanical mantel clocks are currently being offered around £85–£115 on eBay, while serviced examples through specialist clock dealers are around £115 and upwards. Given the more decorative case and attractive glazed pendulum window on yours, I’d price it slightly above the ordinary examples.
