This is an exquisite 18th or early 19th century Thai bronze statue of Buddha, known as "les mudra". The statue depicts the Buddha sitting in the lotus position, holding his right hand in the earth-touching gesture (bhumisparsha mudra), symbolizing his triumph over Mara and his right to attain enlightenment.

Crafted using the traditional lost-wax method, the figure was first created from wax and then cast in bronze. The statue was originally gilded in gold, and still retains some remnants of this rich finish.

The intricate details and beautiful patina on the statue make it a truly stunning piece, perfect for adding an air of serenity and spiritual richness to any room. It is in excellent condition and would be a wonderful addition to any collection.
