A genuine 18th century carved oak Bible box of substantial size, richly decorated with hand-carved fan and foliate motifs across the front and sides. Originally intended for the storage and protection of a family Bible and other important household documents, this is a fine example of Georgian vernacular craftsmanship with strong decorative appeal.

Constructed from solid oak and retaining its original iron lock plate and hinged clasp, the box displays the honest wear and deep patina that only comes from over two centuries of age. The bold carving and dark oak colour make it an excellent decorative piece for period interiors, country houses, castlecore schemes and collectors of early oak furniture.

The interior remains clean and usable, making the box ideal for storing books, letters, documents, photographs or treasured possessions. The original lock is present but no key survives. The lid closes securely via the clasp. There is age-related wear, minor shrinkage and surface marks throughout, all consistent with its age and adding to its authentic character.
