Excellent bronze basket weave vase in the shape of a Japanese fisherman's prawn trap.
Purports to be from the 17th century and could be, certainly 19th century or older.
The bronze would have been made using the loss wax process where the object being made is first carved from wax, a clay mould is made around the wax, the wax is melted out and then the wax is replaces with moles bronze.
