Excellent bronze basket weave vase in the shape of a Japanese fisherman's prawn trap.

Purports to be from the 17th century and could be, certainly 19th century or older.

Made using the ancient lost wax process where the object being made is first formed from wax, a clay mould is made around the wax, the wax is melted out and replaced by molten bronze.
